Avery Elizabeth Hurt is the author of more than a dozen books for children and young adults. She is one of the weird people behind the Weird But True series from National Geographic Kids Books, and is a regular contributor to several kids’ magazines, including National Geographic Kids, Muse, and Double Helix. Though she writes mostly about science and social studies, there are few topics that don’t interest her. Writing for young readers gives her the opportunity to dig into pretty much any subject that catches her fancy and share what she discovers with the most amazing readers anywhere—kids.
